Privacy Policy

LayerKick is operated by Orchard & Co LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company (“we,” “us,” “our”). This policy describes how we handle data in connection with the LayerKick service.

What LayerKick does
LayerKick is a performance optimization service for Shopify stores. This policy covers two groups: clients (Shopify merchants who use LayerKick) and visitors (people browsing our clients’ stores).
Store visitors
When you visit a store powered by LayerKick, we process limited technical data to deliver and optimize the storefront.
Request data. Standard HTTP request data — including IP address — is processed at the edge to serve pages and prevent abuse. We do not retain raw IP addresses beyond request processing.
Anonymous identifiers. We generate anonymous, non-reversible identifiers derived from existing Shopify cookies to maintain consistent experiences (such as A/B test assignments). We do not store the underlying cookie values. These identifiers cannot be used to identify individual visitors.
Cookies and local storage. We read cookies set by Shopify as part of normal storefront delivery. Our use of browser storage follows the same consent framework as the client’s Shopify store. We do not set tracking cookies independent of the store’s existing consent mechanisms.
Performance metrics. We collect anonymized page load performance data to measure the effectiveness of our optimization.
What we do not do:
- We do not set independent tracking cookies.
- We do not collect personal information such as names, email addresses, or payment details from visitors.
- We do not track visitors across stores or across the web.
Clients
When you use LayerKick as a client, we collect:
Account information. Name, email address, and business details necessary for account setup and communication.
Billing information. Payments are processed by our billing provider. We do not store payment card details on our servers.
Integration credentials. You provide scoped credentials to enable the LayerKick service in your infrastructure. These credentials are limited to the minimum permissions required.
Webhook data. We receive standard Shopify webhooks to keep content fresh and to support features like A/B test attribution.
Store content. We cache your publicly accessible storefront pages to serve them to visitors. This is the same content any visitor would see.
How we use data
We use the data described above to operate, maintain, and improve the LayerKick service — including serving optimized pages, running experiments, measuring performance, processing billing, and providing support.
Third-party services
We use third-party infrastructure providers to operate LayerKick, including cloud hosting, edge compute, billing, error monitoring, and observability services. These providers process data only as necessary to support the service and are subject to their own privacy policies.
Data retention
Visitor data. Anonymized performance and experiment data is retained for a limited period and purged on a regular schedule.
Client data. Account and billing information is retained for the duration of our service relationship and as required by law.
Cached content. Storefront caches are refreshed continuously and deleted upon offboarding.
Security
We secure data through encryption in transit, scoped access credentials, authenticated dashboard access, and infrastructure-level controls. We follow security best practices appropriate to the data we process.
Your rights
Visitors. Because we process only anonymous, non-personal data, there is typically nothing to provide, correct, or delete. If you have questions, contact us at platform@layerkick.com.
Clients. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account data at any time. Upon offboarding, we revoke credentials, remove our service from your infrastructure, and delete cached content.
Children’s privacy
LayerKick is a business-to-business service. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction).
International data processing
Visitor requests may be processed at edge locations globally. Client account data is stored in the United States.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated to clients via email. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
